About Dr. Galvez

Growing up in Peru playing competitive soccer, surfing the waves of Lima’s beaches, and skiing the Andes slopes, Dr. Juan Carlos Galvez never wanted pain to stop him from an active life. At a young age, he pursued a career in medicine to help those limited by their ailments.

His first taste of a sportsman’s life in America was as part of the ski patrol in Deer Valley, Utah. A native Spanish speaker from Peru, Dr. Galvez earned his medical degree in Peru. He continued his medical training in the United States earning double-board certification in sports medicine and family medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Minnesota and furthered his education by attaining a sports medicine fellowship at MacNeal Hospital near Chicago. Before joining The Hirsh Center family, Dr. Galvez gained applied patient-centered care in a California multispecialty clinic utilizing musculoskeletal ultrasound and state-of-the-art imaging techniques.

During his time in California, Dr. Galvez worked closely with local athletic teams to gain first-hand knowledge on how to evaluate, manage, and treat athletes to minimize their time out of the game. Whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior or health enthusiast, Dr. Galvez addresses pain and injury with innovative treatments and advanced technologies, as well as providing non-surgical orthopedic joint pain solutions. Dr. Galvez is also an arthritis expert and specializes in the treatment of osteoporosis. 

Dr. Galvez enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is enthusiastically teaching his son and daughter how to surf South Florida’s waves.
