Injections

There are many treatment options available for your rheumatologic and sports medicine care. Dr. Hirsh, Dr. Singh, Dr. Kapelow, Evan Abramsky, and Javier Chiriboga will discuss all of your treatment options and the potential benefits and risks of each treatment selection.

There are several types of joint injections which can be administered. These injections include viscosupplements and steroid (cortisone) injections. Viscosupplementation is a procedure that involves the injection of gel-like substances into a joint to supplement the viscous properties of synovial fluid. Steroid injections can be used to target effective anti-inflammatory treatment to a specific painful joint.

Our physicians utilize ultrasound guidance to visual the injected area and ensure placement accuracy. Our practice is nationally accredited in musculoskeletal ultrasound; you can be sure that guided injections in our office meet and even exceed national standards.
